If your home's vinyl siding is dirty this can make everything look bad for your home's exterior. Fortunately, there are different ways you can clean the vinyl siding, two of which are listed below.

Use a Pressure Washer

The fastest way to get the vinyl siding clean is by using a pressure washer. You can rent one from a home improvement store if you need to. They are generally not expensive to purchase, however, and if you plan to clean anything in the future, such as a driveway, it would be worth the investment.

Start by putting the pressure washer on a low setting and then adjust it while cleaning, if you need to. In many cases, a low setting is powerful enough to get the vinyl siding clean. You do need to purchase a cleaner that is made for vinyl siding to put in the pressure washer. This is important as some cleaners may cause damage to the siding.

If there are dirty spots that the pressure washer is not removing, use a utility brush to loosen the dirt. There are brushes that you can connect to a wand for easier cleaning. Once you apply the cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes, and then rinse the vinyl with clean water. Make sure all cleaner is removed when you are finished.

If you do not want to do this yourself, hire a pressure washing company to do the job for you. This is especially true if your home has two stories as this can get dangerous. The pressure washing company has commercial pressure washers that are more powerful than the ones you can purchase and the employees have the expertise to clean the vinyl in the right way.

Manually Clean the Siding

If you do not want to use a pressure washer, you can use vinyl siding cleaner and a brush to clean the siding. Make sure you purchase a brush that can be extended to reach the top areas. First, wet the vinyl siding with a garden hose, then apply the detergent you purchased. Scrub the siding with the brush to remove dirt and other debris. You may need to use a hand scrubber if you cannot get dirt and/or stains off.

When you are finished, rinse the vinyl siding with a garden hose. Inspect the siding to ensure that all dirt and debris was removed. You may need to go over it a second time since manual cleaning is not as powerful as using a pressure washer.

Cleaning your vinyl siding is important not only for aesthetic purposes but clean siding will allow you to easily see if there are repairs that need to be made.
